The day has finally come! I will be leaving the country few hours later. It's painful to say I haven't been able to pack up my luggage till now because of this blogging, this experience was truly worthy to grab. For me who is really an idiot dealing with computers and internet, this experience somehow let me reform myself and my eyes opened.
Going to my last picture, we were taken this last term, in FOTOCOM room. We were waiting for our professor to come, and while waiting, we took several pictures altogether. Jason(left) and Micah(middle) posed so naturally, but I still lacked posing in a natural way, even though there's been an improvement compare to the one with JC a year ago. Anyway, I would like to thank to all my blockmates and friends who have always greeted and said hello whenever they see me each other. Their support and smile have been always there giving me the power and courage to survive and have victory in this foreign school. It is really hard for the foreigners to survive and pursue their lives in the Philippines due to many reasons. Only those who have experienced could nod at this point. Weather, culture, food, lifestyle, and language, etc. Everything is a problem. However, I've never felt sad thinking of going back to Korea due to these low-level reasons. It was primarily because I'm enjoying the blessing of Immanuel that God is with me all the time, and secondly, because of supports and love of friends around.

I will be back to Korea for more than a month. But my heart always remains here, for I love. :))

I would like to introduce some of 'Ates' staying in our school, Bulacan. There are roughly 30 of stay-in workers, evangelists, and teachers serving the ministry and school. Some of them were there even before I came, but most of them came after I came to the Philippines. I feel sorry and thank whenever I see them, for their devotion upon serving the ministry. It must be hard for them to work things such as washing clothes of 80 Korean students daily, preparing foods, and cleaning the rooms, etc. However, they never complain of anything and joyfully do their parts, for they know that's for the sake of God's ministry in mission field. I always smile and greet aloud, in spite of my introspective characteristic, for I really love them. Personally, I become super attached and active for those who are very close and acknowledged as the one whom I can share everything with.
Anyway, they are the ones also who greet me in big laughter and smile whenever I visit there. The special hospitable nature of Filipinos and love toward me are combined me and giving me the greatest happiness. Salama Ates!

Amazing night! It was my first ever trial joining this kind of formal party! The picture was scanned when I attended the debut party of my friend, Paola Malong last October. Everything was perfectly unexpected and beyond my imagination. Above all, the western-based party culture is not yet completely settled in Korea, which has been one of the most conservative countries in the world. I didn't know what to do since I arrived their little bit early. People were greeting each other and began taking pictures. I too also joined some of their chats, but soon got separated and sat over alone. While taking pictures on my own, I realized the advanced culture of the Philippines, which is the legacy of glorious prosperity the country once experienced in the past. In spite of present economic hardships, the culture has still remained and being rotating over deep inside of people.
I couldn't participate the entire debut since I had to go back home early. However, the amazing night that I hadn't experienced before gave me one of the greatest cultural impacts in my 5 years life in the Philippines. I wanna go again if the time comes! > <

Hi guys! I would like to share with my one of the most memorable days in my life here in the Philippines. Today, I would like to talk about my graduation which remains in my memory! I graduated last March, 2007. Even though It was a vague graduation following the Philippine curriculum system, I still graduated. Simply, since Korean students and some of Filipino students were studying in American Curriculum system, I had to stay another year to complete my requirements for official graduation. Anyway in any reason, we still 'graduated.' It was amazing. I've got several medals in doing things, even though I didn't excel deserving that much. Aside from that fact. The graduation was just like a festival for me and everyone around. We laughed, enjoyed, and shared everything offered. I sand several songs with the Filipino girl there, and we even ate amazing foods after the procedures got over.
3 years have already passed and I'm now about to enter the graduating batch after the upcoming summer break. Time truly files. Another last year will also move very fast, and my life in the Philippines will temporarily cease since I have to go back to Korea for military service and graduate school. However, the one thing sure is that I'll keep coming to this country, because the mission field where I have to devote myself is here, and I also do love the Philippines and Filipinos! Love ya! >_<

Do we look nice? The best group ever took this picture in Fort Santiago. (Thank you for reminding me of the name of location Lix!) The shot was great! Fine day, beautiful people, the statue, and the lawns, etc. We went there for several picture takings for our magazine making in INTPRIN. The day was really tiring since I and some of my friends had to wear 'WINTER CLOTH!' Well, even though it was not perfectly something 'winter,' It was a crazy adventure trying of those clothes in that hot weather. The laughter didn't cease as we pursued our picture takings throughout the day. Everyone was enjoying the moment!
I found of some interesting historical spots and figures in Fort Santiago where I'd never been before. The Spanish spots were of course remained, and the 'Kaldesa' was interesting thing for me to watch. People were riding it and the horse ran throughout the entire spot. While thinking of the miserable state of horses, my eyes kept detecting the legacies caused from the occupation of Spaniards in this country.
"How many people would fight and shed their bloods for the independence? Even though these beautiful legacies have been able to remain due to their bloods, what about their deep mindset during the age?" This remained in my heart.

Hello! Another fine day is about to end. I picked this picture for today, which I was taken by my friend in Boracay, last 2008. It was my first time experiencing the wonderful moment with the snorkling,
in the middle of beautiful Pacific Ocean. At first, I was a bit scary of thought, 'What if the sharks appear and attack us?" but that thought got erased due to my excitement all of sudden. We rode a 'Bangka,' small boat and went to the middle of Ocean. I just found out from one Kuya, that the place people usually snorkle is already known and announced safe as a spot for snorkling.
Is there anyone who has ever experienced snorkling? There is no need for me to explain by words. Only those who actually experienced could share the same feeling as what I had before. It was just amazing. Hundreds of tropical fishes having different kinds of beautiful colors gather quickly and get my bread in hand. That scenery is the best! While swimming inside the most beautiful ocean in the Philippines, you can maximize your satisfaction while dancing with the fishes! You can also see the various kinds of corals and other environments altogether!
The summer is near! Why don't you go for the vacation in the ocean!?

This picture was taken last week, when all of us, Korean students and Filipino staffs, teachers, and workers gathered altogether in playing ground and had a fun moment with firecrackers. All of sudden with the complet joy and expectation, the first cracker flew the sky and everyone shouted. Everyone grabbed a pole of safe crackers and shook it joyfully, though I didn't join it since I felt a bit childish participating in that. I was just happy looking at my younger brothers and sisters being happy with that moment. The complete darkness rolled away as soon as the lights were opened.
Along with it, we gathered altogether and prayed for Ptr. Kim's recovery, who went back to Korea and hospitalized due to the problem in his pancreas. Everyone in one accord prayed as gathering the heart of oneness at that moment. I feel always the spirit of 'being together' with Filipinos whenever I come to my hometown, Bulacan even though there are times I'm still having gaps between Filipinos in Manila life. Maybe it's still because of my lackings in communication. It's ok. Everything will be fine!

My church is in Malolos, Bulacan. This is where I first came to the Philippines, where I graduated my high school, where I spent the greatest moments in life, a place that I'm still going happily, and most importantly, this is the place where I will stake my life into. I was an ordinary student in Korea. I was led by my aunt to study here, and began my life without knowing anything. Upon being influenced by my beloved two missionaries, Ptr. Kim, Young-Hwa and Ptra. Bae, Hannah, I have been trained and come up to this point of life. The picture was taken last week, when all the Korean students were having the special number in sunday worship service. Purely, the congregations are Filipinos. All of them are not the ordinary church-goers, rather, they are the faithful committed workers for Christ. 'Jesus is the Christ, the answer to everything.' This confession has made the works of God in Malolos possible from the past till now. The true devotion and love for souls of two missionaries have moved God's heart and let him bless us. I really love them. I really love my mission field. I really love my school there and everything including people like Filipino teachers, friends, and students. :)

This is Yuchengco, which I think of the most beautiful building in La Salle. Last term, I took the 'HUMAART' class, and the professor told us that most of the buildings in La Salle are made of the Greek building style. I thought in the same way before listening to her lecture. Even though our campus is really tiny, and I truly felt as I once visited both Ateneo and UP, I still love our campus the most. Regarding the size, I once jokingly complained, for I felt it's too small. But one important realization came to my mind. What happens if the campus is big in the Philippines? Students will have to walk around so long for them to move from one building to another. It means the tropical hot weather would definitely kill the students tempering down the effectiveness. In that sense, La Salle is the best school.
And I do also love the Greek style that La Salle has pursued. Even though it would have been better if it would combine with some of more traditional Filipino building style, the designs are really beautiful in a perspective of foreign student. Of course, still, everything is old and latent compare to the universities in foreign countries. However, La Salle is proud of having the most well-equipped facilities in all over the countries. And mostly, I love my school!

Today, while I was searching for the pics as remembering my precious memories in La Salle, I found out this picture taken with JC, the day when we had the dance presentation last year. While we were waiting for the time of presentation, we were supposed to gather in one room in 7th floor and get ready. Suddenly, guys like Gin, JC, and Megann began to take some of pictures happily with the beautiful pose. However, as usual, I couldn't force myself joining it since I almost 'hate' of taking pictures. Meanwhile, JC somehow began to force me to take a picture together. I wasn't happy to say OK, but I couldn't also say "No!" at the same time. There, this picture was produced.
As you can see, my posture and facial expression is a bit awkward, compare to JC. I hate my attitude in picture taking! But the thing is I can't decide upon how I need to pose and make my facial expression correctly in front of camera! :( So sad... I like the active characteristic of Filipinos. They are so active and lively in any circumstances. Of course this judgment might be narrowed in few people that I've seen, but it's something I need to practice as mine. T-T

Isn't it so beautiful? It's the scene I took accidently. The perfect scenery along with the azure vegetations and the combination with traditional Bahay Kubo ceased my footstep and let me to shoot the shot. I love staying inside Baha Kubo. It cools not only my body, but also my heart and mind.
Philippine is really hot. Especially in this hot season, the temperature reaches till 38C and it almost kills me around. I already became Pinoy whom can't adjust even the cool weather whenever I go back to Korea. I have already lost the confidence to go to Korea during winter season, for it's even hard to adjust the weather during the spring season. Anyway, Bahay Kubo has been always with me whenever I felt hot. The spatious characteristic also offers me of the quiet time of reading books, taking a nap, and chatting with friends having some snacks. These several kubos inside our school have devoted their standings for Korean students to experience the 'special' encounter which we can't have in Korea. Even though there's a simlar one in countryside, the unique tropical weather of the Philippines somehow has made this legacy. I love it~ :))

You guys know what building this is? This old/latent building which is about to collapse is the first university of the Philippines, UST. In my own perspective, Filipinos have the intense proud on 4 major universities, La Salle, UP, Ateneo, and UST. I don't know why, but the hidden competition and flow of it definitely is stronger than Korea. That strange atmosphere somehow both facilitates and hinders the developments of colleges in the Philippines. Anyway, the site was already old. Along with the other Spanish sites, the 'old school' already has lost its function. The tourists wouldn't be able to even recognize what that is if there's no notice board. It's really a sad fact the government is not doing their part correctly. Of course they would say they are actually investing and administrating those legacies which they can never return back with their own technology and spirit. However, they are not actually doing their effort in my own perspective only as I compare the level of management compare to Korea. There must be actually more interest and support for they are the great source upon how the Philippines could appeal to foreigners and give them the historical backgrounds in which what actually happened during the colonial periods.
I feel like I'm looking down on the Philippines always as comparing to Korea. However, that's not my point. The true love begins from the whipping. In this belief, I criticize once again, for I love this country.

This is our school pastor, Mark Anthony Cruz. I would like to introduce him to all of you. He has been serving as a school pastor since 2009. He came as an English tutor last 2006. I still remember. When our church was still on the small portion of first floor of school, he attended the Sunday worship service and gave his testimony. The summary of his forum was this: He recently lost his father and began to wander of his own identity. What's life and why the problems keep coming to his life. Everything was fine. Even though his family was not rich, he studied well and was about to enter U.P. However, the sudden problems covered the entire house and household altogether without reason, and he began to fall down. He even tried to commit  suicide giving up everything. At that critical moment, he was guided to our mission field and accepted Jesus as his personal savior and Lord.
He's really a nice guy. I sincerely respect and love him, surpassing the cultural, racial, and all the boundaries between us. He too likes me and prays for me always. The Gospel is really a greatest thing.
This simple mystery that Jesus is the Christ, the answer to everything totally changes an individual from death to life, from life to the position of success.
He now became a disciple of Christ and our missionaries and totally devoting himself for the sake of the Gospel, evangelism, and mission, because he has received the greatest grace he never experienced before in his life.

I'm so blessed looking at him. Thank God.

I don't feel like to write much today, for I'm so exhausted from activities outside and projects have done. Today, I took a picture of 3 children on the street while I was walking. They were forming a line and playing of chasing each other's hips. They were laughing and along with the fine day, the beautiful backgrounds let me have no choice but to open the cover of camera and press the shutter. While taking some of them, these three children approached and somehow posed in a cute way. They looked more of being curious as looking at me holding a strange device. I smiled once and asked them with my little tagalog. "Mga bata, mag pose kayo." I still don't know whether they understood me or not. One thing I'm sure is that they looked so pure and happy.
However, looking at them was somehow also the hurt for me. They must be definitely the street children in spite of their smiles. Some of them probably have lost their parents and would beg for money to anyone. The thing is, what about their future? Are there only three street children that I took in all over the Philippines? The answer is "NO."

I felt sorry while enjoying the moment. Hmm, it's sad. T-T

Sherry, who is my sister texted. "Kuya, why don't you come to our DLSU Pop Orchestra's performance this evening? Our mommy won't be able to come, so I invite you to come and watch us!"
I nodded, for it had been already so long ever since I lastly enjoyed any kind of cultural leisure. Most importantly, I just would have liked to satisfy Sherry's request and wanted to watch sister's gorgeous performance. The event was performed in a huge scale and so many people were already gathered and waiting for the beginning in complete expectation.
At exactly 7 P.M., The event began with the welcoming announcement of a narrator. Several performances began to make the audiences' eyes focused. Splendid DLSU singers, orchestra, and even the actors showed their amazing abilities. Sherry also showed her best effort upon participating in a great harmony. Anyway, time quickly passed and everything was about to end.

A great impact was implanted into my heart. I saw the amazing cultural abilities of Filipinos. Especially, the young generation's abilities upon making eyes focused on them.
Honestly, I haven't heard of any prominent world-wide Filipino artists who are known to people.
However, I could see how they break my lacked backgrounds.
As coming back home with Sherry, I praised the performances just done.
                                                                          "You guys were amazing!"

I took this picture when I visited the Philippine Immigration for my extension of Visa and Annual Report. Immigration is one of the things that I hate the most along with the taxies in this country. Anyway, that's not my point. After finishing my process in immigration, I came out and walked around the near areas, since I knew that it's in Intramuros, the famous tourism spot in Manila. I found out some of people walking inside a huge entrance. I decided to chase after them. Oh, the amazing structure finally appeared in front of my very eyes. It was a beautiful Catholic Cathedral. As you could see in outlook, the beautiful Spanish structure somehow attracted my footsteps near to him. There was probably a wedding ceremony though I'm not sure. Some of bishops were walking in as a bride and bridegroom were happily smiling at each other. It was just like a movie.
I've seen so many beautiful Catholic cathedrals in all over the Philippines. Wherever I go, the inheritance of Spanish Catholicism has dominated and influenced people and the entire country till now. Whatever comes out, they definitely are the great legacies for the Philippines.

Strangely, I miss Korean foods today. This picture was taken when our guardian made 'Bibimbap,' Korean traditional food before she left to Korea. It was fantastic in taste. As you could see. It's made full of different kinds of vegetables, therefore, it must be healthy for out health. Most of Korean foods are like this. The wisdom of our ancestors has always developed and made the very unique yet one of the most healthiest foods in the world just like Kimchi. I do like Filipino foods, and as well as the western foods. However, you guys know that the person finally returns back to his/her own country.
In this sense, I miss the foods which is perfect to my taste. Actually, there's a way to solve out this problem. There are several Korean restaurants established nowadays. But still, they are just imitating the taste which can never copy the original one from Korea.
I boldly boast that the foods my mom make are the best in the world. This is only thing that I boast with others, because she deserves that title. I don't know. Anyway, I will be back to Korea like 18 days later, little bit less than 3 weeks. I will begin to count the days left from now on, not because of anything else, but because of the foods which roams around my head. Sad night... T-T

There are countless number of so-called, 'moving vendors' selling various kinds of goods.
Sour mango, icecream,  fishball, ballot, and peanuts...
I've tried them ever since I came to the Philippines, and it doesn't matter regardless of the region.
It was same in Bulacan.
Now it is still same in Manila.
I really find it interesting and precious as if I went back to my childhood days.
That is somewhat the reason why my eyes stare at them though I'm not related at all.

This comes to my mind whenever I see them in a sense of compassion.
It's not a kinda thing that I feel the superiority. I just concern.

'How much would they earn a day with that effort?'
'Our father generation must have been like that as well.'
'The government must be arising for her people to be strengthen.'

Anyway, these just get compiled and somehow blow away as I pass them through.

      I love their smile. ^^
      I admire their diligency. -ㅅ-
and I respect and cheer their lives struggling/fighting with their lackings!

Funny Guys,
This is what I can say of these 4 blockmates, Adi, Garren, JC, and Vince.
I've been with them for 2 years already from the day of Freshmen Orientation last 2008.
Everything was new and I was having a hard time adjusting the new atmosphere in college.
In that critical situation, it was Adi who first approached and hang around throughout the day.
He even fetched me till SM Megamall, where I had a party with my Korean friends.
Garren, whom I admire of his sporty speed, is a cool guy. He looks like one of Korean celebrities who is very masculine. Anyway, he is the grandson of a famous old boxer. Probably, he's athletic due to the genetic inheritance from his grandfather. JC, who looks like Chris Paul, NBA player is also a nice guy.
I used to be with his groupmate in ENGLRES, and we were nice combination in basketball class last year. He's truly a funny yet good-looking man that I think. Lastly, Vince, there is even no reason for me to describe him of who he is, for everyone knows about him. He's a freak! He can make a person laugh in less than a second. His facial expressions, his words, and his actions enable him to make other people happy being with.
I like these guys. Though I don't usually talk to them often, probably it's because they bond by themselves too much? I'm just happy to be their blockmate, and a foreign friend. :)

This picture was taken while I was going to MRT, Guadalupe Station from La Salle. I've been riding jeep since I first came to Bulacan. I still remember the time when I first woke up from resort. Outside was really noisy which eventually woke my body up from the bed. I was totally shocked. Lots of jeepneys, tricycles, and cars were moving without any order in public. It was my first time to see those kinds of vehicles, and it became a great impact which remains till now in my memory.
I heard of the history and background how the jeepneys got introduced became a major transportation in the Philippines. I understand. However, the pollution that countless of them are making even today must be regularized and exercised in a government level. It's not in vain. It's truly serious. You guys would surely agree with me if you have ever tried walking on the street of Taft Avenue along with La Salle. That explains of everything, simply.
Anyway, I do love riding jeeps. My friends usually say I'm crazy. There are many of Filipino friends who haven't tried riding it in their lives yet. They are saying it's dangerous. I just nod, but jeer deep in mind. Well, there has been nothing happened till now out of hundreds of trials of them.
I love shouting "Bayad po!" and "Para po!" whenever riding it, and nowadays, they come out from mouth often than I shout English words. In addition, I love to look at different kinds of people, their expression, the way they speak languages, and even the way they practice public order.
Even today, I ride a jeep without hesistance.

I took this picture when I visted Bulacan last year. We went to the Children Bibly Study in different Barangays, and had a great time with children. For the first time when we conducted, children were coming just looking at the snacks and foods that we brought for them to share. However, good thing is that now, they are coming to the assigned place by their own will just to hear God's message every saturday.
Anyway,  this cute boy with big eyes were eating a piece of bread that I gave. He approached and smiled. I embraced him and played together sharing breads and drinks together.
I truly do love children. Probably it's from my nature, since my mother had been serving as a kindergarten teacher and chief for more than 20 years. I become totally melted in front of children, in spite of this big body. Somehow, when I'm with children, I feel like I become their father, friend, and sibling regardless of who they are, whether they are foreigners or Koreans. I just love them!
I will go back to the children ministry field next week as well. I'm so excited to see new children and even the original ones. I will definitely laugh with them once again! > _ <

This picture was taken near Chinese Town, Carriedo. It was a shiny and fine day when I hang over with Julie and Peter for picture taking. As soon as arrived, we began to shoot the beautiful sceneries. Among them, this huge statue caught to my eyes. Nothing was detailed, the bronze-made statue was simply connoting of somehow walking(lalakad) of a man towards some place. He somewhat looked like an officer in public government, or a social person who aims to achieve something for the masses.
I've been learning the Philippine history since first year, college. The Philippine history had been always with the invasion and influence from outer forces, Spain, U.S., and Japan. Aside from this visible forces, the cultural, political, and social influences have always dominated the country.
Having those background knowledge, I felt the certain message from the statue of explaining something very important.
Filipinos usually say that they have to be free from the ideology of colony.
I agree. Korea was also once colonized by Japan for 35 years, and it took several years to take out from that strong colonialism mentality. How about the Philippines? She was colonized for countless of years. Therefore, Filipinos must arise to fight against everything hindering the developments of a nation.
This full-scale reformation will eventually lead the nation into prosperity!
